Hundreds of St.-Petersburg Jews joined the volunteer work party at Preobrazhenskoe Jewish Cemetery April, 26. They were called upon to support this worthy undertaking by Chief Rabbi of Saint-Petersburg Menachem-Mendel Pewzner. Volunteer help was most welcome after long stormy winter. The works involved removing fallen boughs and leaves as well as general clean-up. Among volunteers were Jews of all ages, including children and middle-aged people. The participants showed true desire to help and strong community spirit.
The clean-up procedures were preceded by solemn meeting to commemorate the 'Yom Hashoa', the Day in Memory of Holocaust Victims.
